School Facilities

Summary of Most Recent Site Inspection

The school's facility is comprised of 9 portable buildings.  In addition, the school shares a library, cafeteria/multi-purpose room, and yard with Education for Change at World Academy.  The site is regularly inspected by the facilities team, and the in-house maintenance and custodial staff keep the buildings and grounds very clean and in excellent repair.  All non-routine maintenance issues are handled by Oakland Unified School District, and an external pest-control company services the site monthly.

Repairs Needed

Very few repairs are needed at the site.  The flooring in the staff lounge and the lighting on the stage in the multi-purpose room (both of which are in the shared space with Education for Change at World Academy) need to repaired or replaced.  Additionally, the portables are frequently tagged with graffiti.

Corrective Actions Taken or Planned

The flooring and lighting issue have been reported to OUSD and repairs requested.  The custodial staff checks for graffiti every day and quickly paints over any graffiti.

Opportunities for Parental Involvement

This section provides information about opportunities for parents to become involved with school activities.

Parents at EFC at Achieve Academy are active participants in the school community.  A number of opportunities for parent involvement exist at the site including volunteering, involvement in site committees,  parent conferences, participation in school-wide events, and Family Resource Center activities.  Parents are encouraged to become school volunteers.  School site committees such as the ELAC/ DELAC and SSC/DAC provide leadership opportunities for parents. Meetings are held monthly and each committee specifically focuses on the state and federal compliance mandates that are designated to these committees.  Many opportunities exist for parents to learn more about what is happening at their school site including Back to School Night, Open House, attendance assemblies and celebrations. EFC at Achieve Academy partners with East Bay Agency for Children to provide further leadership opportunities and  parent classes on issues such as :rules, rights and responsibilities, how to assist students with their homework, questions parents should ask teachers, nutrition and classes on how to be a better parent.  They also have ELD, GED, and Spanish literacy classes.  EBAC also provides health services, food drives, monthly clothes give away, legal assistance, housing assistance, etc.  We welcome parents at EFC at Achieve Academy.
