Our Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) is designed to ensure every child receives the support, services, and care they need to thrive. Through inclusive practices, personalized instruction, and community-based mental health partnerships, we meet each student where they are and help them grow.
A Commitment to Every Learner
At EFC, inclusion isn’t a placement — it’s a belief. We believe all students should feel safe, supported, and capable of success. Through collaboration, compassion, and responsive systems, we ensure that every learner has access to the tools they need to grow.
What is MTSS at EFC?
Our Multi-Tiered System of Supports is a whole-child approach to student success. It brings together educators, specialists, and families to identify student needs early and respond with the right level of academic, social-emotional, or behavioral support. We use a problem-solving model led by multidisciplinary teams at each school to guide decisions that are proactive, data-informed, and deeply rooted in care.
Inclusive & Specialized Instruction
We serve students across a wide range of needs through a variety of learning environments:
- Full inclusion classrooms
- Resource instruction
- Small-group programs
- Specialized programs for students with autism, emotional needs, or moderate disabilities
Integrated Support Teams
Special education staff collaborate closely with general education teachers, ELL specialists, afterschool staff, and interventionists. This ensures support is coordinated, consistent, and fully integrated into students’ day-to-day experience.
Mental Health & Wellness
We prioritize emotional well-being alongside academics. Our long-standing partnership with Seneca Family Agencies ensures students and families have access to trauma-informed mental health services — both on campus and in the community.
Community-Based Wraparound Services
We partner with trusted local organizations to provide expanded learning and care, including:
- East Bay Agency for Children
- La Clínica de la Raza
- Oakland Leaf
- Ujimaa Foundation
- Girls Inc.
These partners offer social services, afterschool programs, and more — tailored to our students and families.
