ASCEND is one of six schools in the Education for Change (EFC) network, serving TK–8th grade students in Oakland. As an arts-integrated school rooted in community, ASCEND offers a vibrant, inclusive learning experience that nurtures academic excellence, personal agency, and creative expression.

Through a unique blend of arts integration, expeditionary learning, and personalized instruction, ASCEND helps students unlock their full potential. Multi-age classrooms and small-group supports ensure every child is known, challenged, and supported.

Beyond the classroom, ASCEND’s extended learning programs connect students with artists, naturalists, and educators to explore, create, and grow in Oakland’s parks and public spaces.
